Focus Spring Lacrosse 2022

Season Information

Welcome to the registration page for the 2022 Focus Albemarle Girls Lacrosse League!

Focus AGLL is excited to offer a reformatted recreational experience in Charlottesville for all 5-8th grade girls. Like the AGFHL, the AGLL will now have coach education, a standard curriculum, updated organization and communication and a flexible game schedule all to allow for maximum improvement and fun for everyone! These games will be mixed across regions to build community, to allow the girls to learn from different coaches, and to encourage competitive games.

We recognize that rec play has a variety of skill levels represented, and we will strive to challenge each player to grow not only lacrosse wise but as a person as well.  We can’t wait to grow lacrosse in Charlottesville and hope you will join us!

For the first time, we are also excited to announce that we have secured a practice location and can announce that we will practice on the Covenant Upper School fields on Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-7:45pm starting on March 14th.  These will run through May 4.  The last two practices will be a series of fun competitions and games. There will not be practice on April 4th or 6th. Depending on when Covenant practices end, we may be able to bump practice up 15 minutes but we won’t know that until the season begins.

A kick off clinic will be held on Sunday, March 13th and coached reffed scrimmage/games will be held on 5 Sundays through May 1st  on the grass fields at Monticello High School.  We will not play on Sunday, April 3th or Sunday, April 17. The clinic and games will be in the 3-6pm timeframe.  An exact time per age group will be announced in early March.

We also have a playday opportunity on May 14th in Richmond against other recreational level teams.  We will be able to take 5/6th grade level teams and 7/8th grade level teams. The cost to attend is $25.  We anticipate three 30 minute games and will strive for equal playing time of at least a half per game.  We will take players for the teams in the order registrations are received if we have more players interested than spots.  It is important to note that the purpose of the Richmond tournament is to promote the growth of lacrosse in the Central Virginia area.  We will adjust our game strategy if needed to make sure it is a positive experience for our opponents.  There are always things we can work on in a competitive situation.

Registration for the Spring Season is $225 with the playday opportunity.  If you do not wish to attend the playday, please put “league” in the promo code and the additional $25 will be removed.  All players, coaches, and officials are required to have a US Lacrosse Membership.  Youth memberships are $30 and will be added to your cart when you register if you do not have an active membership through May 15, 2021.

Registration closes on February 20th.  A late registration fee of $25 applies until March 11th.

****Please note that some people are having trouble adding a player to the registration if they don’t already have a youth lacrosse membership.  If this happens to you, please go to uslacrosse.org and purchase a youth lacrosse membership and then go back and register using that information.  It is the same cost but just may take two transactions.  US Lacrosse is working on this issue and thinks it could be browser related but just isn’t sure yet.  Thank you for your patience.  If you continue to have problems – please email focusagll@gmail.com and we will try to help.  If your daughter is in the 5th grade, she most likely does not have a US lacrosse membership unless she played with Cav Lax Elite this past Fall.  If your daughter played with Focus last year, she will have a membership that just needs to be renewed if it expired before the end of the season. Thanks!***

About US

Focus AGLL began in the Spring of 2020 after taking over from the Perriellos who began the league in 1980.  The mission remains the same: to give Middle School aged girls of all abilities the opportunity to learn and love the game of lacrosse.

Focus provides quality coaching and instruction to players of all ages and stages, offering programs for players from U8 to U19 in both field hcokey and lacrosse. Whether you are dipping your toe into field hockey or lacrosse for the first time, a player who wants to upskill to get better for your school team or an ambitious athlete with designs on playing in college, Focus can help you meet your goals.

We have a developmental ethos with a strong emphasis on character development through sport, helping athletes become confident, capable young women. Focus espouses a modern, games-based curriculum delivered by highly-invested coaches, who are among some of the most skilled and empathetic teachers of the game in Virginia.
